Kaleb has his own dark secrets. He lives each day as if it’s his last, and refuses to spare a moment of his time to play the part of a knight in shining armor—especially for someone like Lexie . . . or so he thought. Now, his head and heart are at war, and his soul is screaming she is exactly what he needs.

Will Lexie be the only one that can save him in the end? Or will he instead succumb to the darkness threatening to consume him?

Cancer is never a pretty thing to go through as an adult but even worse as a child.  A child should not have to suffer even to prolong a few days.

We meet Lexie a nurse who tries to make a wish come true for her patients.  She had a twin sister who died from cancer when they were children.  She has never managed to disappoint a child until she meets Kaleb Knight a rock star.

Kaleb declines her request to visit one of her patients which starts them off on a rocky slope.  He has his own issues as he recently quit his band since he was diagnosis with throat cancer but has kept it a secret from everyone even his band mates who are his cousins.  He witness the suffering of him mom who died of breast cancer when he was young and does not want to go through chemo knowing it might not work and rather to live each day as his last.

Unfortunately he cannot forget Lexie after their initial meeting.  So he finds himself at the hospital visiting the kid as Lexie ended up losing another patient.  He finds himself comforting her despite her hostile reaction to seeing him as he watches her breakdown.  Slowly he tries to breakdown her walls as they get to know each other.  Along the way, they start to fall for each other but their time might be short.

Can these two be able to be together?  This is a heartwarming story about dealing with cancer and how it brings two people together in less than ideal situation.
